Quinn Trilk is a seventeen year-old singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Norwalk, Iowa. She has been singing, writing and performing music since she could talk. Quinn’s songwriting has a sophistication well beyond her years. Her fourth single “Storms “ was released on all platforms on February 8th 2023.
From her chord choices and lush harmonies you can hear the influence of classic groups like Queen and The Mama’s and the Papa’s but she has been compared to modern acts such as Clairo and Lizzy McAlpine.
Quinn was given a guitar when she was a baby and would crawl on top of it, pluck the strings, and hum along. By the time she was walking she would sit in at her dads open mic that he hosted. By the age of five in 2011 her original song “Happy Birthday Fairy Godmother” was released word-wide on a children’s album that her dad, Dan Trilk, released with Debbie Doo Wop & Dynamite Dan called “Cheesy Peas”. Two years later her song “Aliens Are Real” which was originally improvised on her swing se,t was released on Debbie Doo Wop & Dynamite Dan’s second release “Party!” At the age of eight Quinn joined her first band “Neon Notes” as a tambourine player. The girls were five years older than her. Soon she was playing everything from drums, bass, keys, ukulele and vocals. Her current band Wait, What?! performed at Des Moines’ reputable music festival 80/35 in 2019 and they continue to grace the stages of many other venues and festivals in the area throughout.
Quinn’s 4th and latest single “Storms” was released on February 8th of 2023. It documents a coming to terms with heart break and pain and finding peace which is beautifully mirrored in the warm and sparse instrumentation. She performed everything on the track including drums, stand up bass, guitar, piano and vocals. An EP is currently in the works and set to be released this spring. Keep an eye out for more music from Quinn in the weeks, months and years ahead. She is just getting started.
